Thanks for the reply. I'm interested that you mentioned land being hot. Originally when we bought our condo, I had the idea of getting a rental property (for income) and at the same time or soon thereafter buying some land (for myself to eventually build on). But I was hoping to sell some of my stock to help pay for all that, and it didn't go up enough for both purchases and that's that! I still look at land on the north part of town every once in a while, but I probably won't be able to do anything for a while.
But I just love the island and I'd love to call it home for more than a week at a time!
Our place is 111 E Marlin. Unit A is still for sale, I think. It went up for sale the same weekend that we bought our place (Unit B), so I am a little fascinated by it's progress.
I'm also happy that Alice Donahue is doing well. We bought our place from her agency (Tina was our agent) and they treated us well. Tina especially was very helpful and organized. ...we had two bad experiences before we found Alice's website and that office was really a breath of fresh air.

My name is Roland Alicea. I am a SABOR Realtor in San Antonio, Texas. My wife and I are considering the purchase of an investment condo in the SPI area and are attempting to do basic research as to a cost/income analysis of beach front and beach view condos. What we would be looking for is a condo below 150K that has a Hx of rental income. I realize that HOA fees play a role in the purchase decision so any info as to fees per development would be appreciated. We intend to retire at SPI in about 7 to 10 years and would like to have our condo already purchased and rented out until that time. I have stayed at the Bahia Mar, Saida Towers and Sheraton while vacationing and primarily utilize "service 24" for accommodations. In addition to being a Realtor I am a SAFD fireman and my wife Ofelia works for Southwest Airlines. I am not a veteran Realtor, but rather new to the profession.
